Beginning June 29, 2018 visit the Children’s Library and pick up your BragTag® and Chain when you register for our “Libraries Rock!” Summer Reading Program! Collect Brag Beads for every 15 minutes you read. Read longer and collect rarer beads. Reading includes: audio-books, reading aloud, being read to, even reading the back of your cereal box!
Receive a ticket for our end of summer Pick -a -Prize raffle for every weekly check in and event attended! Prizes will be drawn during the End of Summer Celebration on 8/17!

Make It Monday: 2p-4p, A school-age Makerspace program where each week participants will tinker, experiment, explore, and create. All materials provided EXCEPT on 7/16. Registration encouraged! No program 7/9 or 8/13.

Preschool Story Time: 10a, Stories, songs and a craft! Geared to Preschool age but all are welcome.

The joy of music and Spanish in a total immersion fiesta! Babies, toddlers and their caregivers sing, move, and play small hand percussion to traditional children’s songs from the Spanish-speaking world. All in Spanish (but no Spanish required!).

“-Ology” Workshop Series: 1p-3p, 3rd- 7th Grade. Plunder in the library, search for other life forms, race down the Nile, become a true wizard, and train your own dragon in this six week series. (ends 8/22)

Lego Challenge: 3p-5p, Lego Club gets an overhaul for summer reading! Put together a team or work independently to compete in our weekly challenge
Fri. 7/6 – 2pm: GeoDome Workshop, By utilizing c-pvc pipe to erect large-scale geo-structures, students visualize the terminology, principles, relationships, and real world relevance of their constructions. Geared for grades K-8th
Mon. 7/9 – 1pm: Creature Teachers, Meet an array of animals and learn how they live in the wild. All ages
Tues. 7/10 (17,24, 31) – 10:30am: Clases de música en Español, The joy of music and Spanish in a total immersion fiesta! Babies, toddlers and their caregivers sing, move, and play small hand percussion to traditional children’s songs from the Spanish-speaking world. A dance and jam session features music from a different culture every week. A perfect way to introduce a second language during the prime time for language development, or to reinforce Spanish spoken at home. All in Spanish (but no Spanish required!).
Tue. 7/17 – 1pm: A Song and Story Celebration with Davis Bates & Roger Tincknell, A participatory program of songs & stories for all ages. There will also be a short lesson on how to play the musical spoons and an appearance by a dancing wooden dog named Bingo. Sponsored by the Pittsfield Cultural Council. All ages.
Wed. 7/18 (7/25, 8/1) 10a- 11:30a: Ukulele Workshop Session 1, This 3-week beginner’s session is for youths grades 6th-8th.Please plan on attending all 3 sessions, and bringing your own ukulele. SPACE IS LIMITED, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Fri. 7/27- 11am: Rolie Polie Guacamole, Join this award-winning “kindie” band from Brooklyn, NY for a high energy, interactive show that’s a mix of funk, rock and folk music mashed into original tunes about natural living, eating healthy and staying active! All ages
Tue. 7/31- 1pm: Happy Birthday Harry Potter!, We’ll be celebrating Harry’s birthday with a magical party! Activities, crafts and refreshments will be provided,
Wed. 8/8 (8/15, 8/22) 10a- 11:30a: Ukulele Workshop Session 2, This 3-week beginner’s session is for youths grades 9th-12th. Please plan on attending all 3 sessions, and supplying your own ukulele. SPACE IS LIMITED, REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.
Mon. 8/13- 11a /1pm: Drumming with Aimee Gelinas, 2 sessions: 11am- Family Session (Kids under 10 with their adult), 1pm- School Age Session (kids 10+), instruments will be provided for both sessions.
Tue. 8/14- 1pm: Minecraft Madness with Jungle Jim, Join Jungle Jim as he leads participants through the magical world of Minecraft! Combining balloon artistry, magic, comedy and improv, Activities include Giant Dragon creation, the Building Block Madness Tournament, a riveting Zombie Chase and the Balloon Firework Rocket extravaganza! Appropriate for children ages 4-11, though siblings are welcome.
Fri. 8/17- 1pm: End of Summer Celebration! You came, you saw, you read! Now it’s time to celebrate! Short- story winners will be announced and the Pick- A- Prize raffle will be drawn! Snacks, games and prizes will be provided!
