Rewarding Volunteer opportunity available

Empowering someone with the ability to read: how rewarding would that be? If such a volunteer experience speaks to you, we invite you to consider the following.

Literacy Volunteers of Berkshire County will hold an orientation for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer tutor of English for speakers of other languages on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at the Berkshire Athenaeum. The orientation will include information about the services offered by Literacy Volunteers, what a typical tutoring experience is like, and what is involved in a volunteer commitment. Knowledge of a foreign language is not required. The dates and times of the upcoming tutor training will be provided at orientation.

Literacy Volunteers of Berkshire County is a private, nonprofit organization which trains volunteers to teach basic reading, writing, and conversational English to adults. Tutoring is free, private, and individualized. For more information see, call 499-9487 or email
