Festival of Trees entry depicts Athenaeum’s growth & change

IMG_6119The library’s entry in the  Berkshire Museum’s 2013 Festival of Trees aligns with this year’s  theme, Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow.

IMG_6120-001Sponsored by the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum and designed by Technical Services Supervisor Alex Reczkowski, the tree  celebrates  the library’s growth and change, acknowledged in its name, From the Card Catalog to the Cloud.

IMG_6138IMG_6134Tree decorations give homage to both the Athenaeum’s historical formats as well as  changing technologies; the tree topper evokes  arrival of fiber optic connectivity, enabling the library to offer  the fastest Internet east of the Mississippi.

IMG_6121The Friends invite visitors to take a catalog card from the displayed drawer: Have a piece of Athenaeum history and join  us in contemplation of how far we’ve come, from the Card Catalog to the Cloud!
