Card Catalog to the Cloud: Friends’ Tree captures Festival Theme

CIMG1416The Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum entry in Berkshire Museum’s 2013 Festival of Trees captures this year’s theme of Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow with references to important developments in Athenaeum history.

CIMG1434CIMG1436With examples of yesterday’s media such as cassettes, catalog cards and floppy disks to today’s fiber optic cable, the tree shares  library history as emerging technologies became incorporated  into  Athenaeum service offerings.

The display of  library realia and  offering  of free “souvenir” catalog cards  encourage visitors to pause and take stock of how far we’ve come indeed, From the Card Catalog to the Cloud!
