New Museum Pass: Tour the U.S.S. Slater

ImageThe Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum announce an addition to the Museum Pass program. Patrons will be able to borrow a pass for a one hour tour aboard the naval vessel USS Slater DE 766. The only Destroyer Escort remaining afloat in the United States, the USS Slater has undergone an extensive 15-year restoration, returning the ship to her former glory as one of the 563 Destroyer Escorts that battled Nazi U-boats on the North Atlantic and stood in line to defend naval task forces in the Pacific. Located on Albany’s Hudson River, the Destroyer Escort Historical Museum is open Wednesday – Sunday, 10 am – 4 pm, April through November. What an educational – and fun – family trip!
