Berkshire Athenaeum volunteer, Ann Tierney will offer a series of knitting classes for adults at the Athenaeum on Thursday evenings from 6-7:30 pm, September 20 through November 8. Needles for novice knitters will be provided by the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum and practice yarn by Ann Tierney. Both Continental and American styles of knitting will be demonstrated.
In part one (beginners), participants will learn to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, correct simple errors, follow a simple pattern and begin to “read” your stitches. You should be able to complete a scarf and maybe even a second small project in the eight week course i.e. a set of coasters. Work on projects at home between classes is strongly recommended and necessary for project completion in eight weeks!
In part two, students will build on their skills, taking on a more complicated project i.e. a baby blanket or a lap blanket or a simple pattern of your choosing. (Class dates TBD for winter/spring 2013.)
The series is free; however space is limited and registration is required. To register contact the Athenaeum Reference Department at (413) 499 9480 x202 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Sponsored by the Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum.
