The Corbetts: A Family of Writers


The Berkshire Athenaeum, under the sponsorship of The Friends of the Berkshire Athenaeum, celebrated the 34th Short Story Writing Contest for Children and 15th year for Young Adults with an awards ceremony on Friday, August 17, 2012.  Isabella, Ian, and Isaac Corbett, the children of Jason and Melissa Corbett of Pittsfield, received congratulations for their awards from the ceremony’s speaker, David Robinson and Mayor Daniel Bianchi.
Isabella won 2nd place in the 9-10 age group, Isaac and Ian won 1st and 2nd place respectively in the 7-8 age group.  Mr. Robinson gave an insightful and encouraging talk to all in attendance drawing from his experiences as a Brown University grad, former Navy pilot, 25 years as a book editor on the National Geographic masthead, and author/photographer of more than 100 magazine articles.   Mayor Bianchi also gave encouraging words and handed out the awards. Congratulations, Corbett Family!
