Today at 1pm: “Melville and Me” Musical Improv with Musician JoAnne Spies

Join JoAnne Spies in creating music together from the themes of Herman Melville and Moby Dick. Young audiences will love learning while singing along.

JoAnne Spies is a singer/songwriter from Chicago on the faculty of Community Access to the Arts in Great Barrington, MA. JoAnne was recently a Fellow at the Millay Colony and is on the Massachusetts Cultural Council Performing Roster. She has produced 2 CD’s of original blues, jazz and country tunes: “2 x 3″ with Jack Douglas and “Me & Melville”. Her one-woman multi-media show ‘Me & Melville’ has been performed at Dixon Place in NYC, Herman Melville’s home Arrowhead, and colleges and museums in the northeast. A graduate of the four-year Musicianship Leadership Program of Music for People and Elder Arts Initiative Training, JoAnne leads groups of all ages in music improvisation with a focus on storytelling, songwriting and rhythm.

Free and open to the public. No registration required.
