In Memoriam Exhibit on view

The Athenaeum’s Local History & Genealogy Department has mounted an exhibit, In Memoriam, in the Blake Reading Room, on the library’s main floor. The exhibit is presented in  honor of Veterans Day (November 11) as well as Pearl Harbor Day (December 7), in conjunction with Pittsfield’s 250th Anniversary Celebration.

The exhibit includes photos of and articles about two Pittsfield men killed in action in World War II. Sargent Edward J Burns, who was the first casualty from Pittsfield, and Roman W Sadlowski, who was the second casualty from Pittsfield, were both killed in the attack on Pearl Harbor. The material on Roman Sadlowski was graciously donated by Mrs Linda Mungo of Dalton. The exhibit is on view during regular library hours. Thank you to all our servicemen and women!
