Athenaeum Volunteer Don Lutes is Honored

On Thursday, June 10, the Rotary Club of Pittsfield recognized Athenaeum volunteer Donald L Lutes with the Dr. David B Kagan Award. The Kagan award is presently annually to one female and one male from the central Berkshire area who has demonstrated volunteerism “above and beyond” the call of duty; recipients represent the highest standards of the Judeo-Christian ethic which is the basis of the award. Don Lutes was recognized for his 20+ years of service to the Athenaeum’s Local History Department, creating indexes for over 900 genealogical resources, providing access to more than 4.8 million family names. Pictured above are (l to r), Local History Department Supervisor Kathleen Reilly; Lutes; and Athenaeum Director Ronald Latham.
