Last Day for November Food for Fines!

November 30 is the last day to take advantage of Food for Fines: the Athenaeum will accept non-perishable food items in lieu of paying fines for overdue library materials. The Athenaeum is also accepting food donations generally. All the donated food will be turned over to the Rotary Club of Pittsfield as part of its annual collection for area food banks.
Collection boxes for donated food are located at the Adult Circulation Desk and at the Children’s Service Desk. When “paying” off a fine with a donated food item, alert a staff librarian before depositing the food into the collection boxes.
Food will be accepted not only for payment of overdue fines for items currently in circulation, but also for outstanding overdue fines from previous transactions. As always, the replacement costs for lost or damaged materials may not be resolved by donated food.
