The Friends of the Berkshire Athenaum have launched their first public painting event, selecting Pittsfield artist Marguerite Bride to create a watercolor portrait of the library building on the occasion of its 35th birthday. The new work portrays the library’s Wendell Avenue entrance and will ultimately hang in a permanent location at the Athenaeum..
You are invited to watch Bride create the Athenaeum portrait in the Main Reading Room: Mondays & Thursdays, 10 am -12 noon; Wednesdays, 3 – 5 pm. Ask Bride questions, see some of her preliminary sketches on display, learn about the creative process from her onsite video presentation. You can also follow this project by visiting her blog.
