Sculpture installed

Garden Temple (John Elling)

Garden Temple (John Elling)

A new sculpture has been installed at the Athenaeum’s main entrance on Wendell Avenue. Made from recycled materials, the stainless steel piece is the work of John Elling and was featured with the work of other regional artists in Contemporary Sculpture, the annual exhibit of contemporary outdoor sculpture at Chesterwood this fall. Seated at the inviting piece, you observe overhead the solar lights that, at night, create what the Albany Times Union observed is a “magical setting… an excellent mixture of art, architecture and environmentalism.” (September 14, 2008)
