Grand Opening of Renovated Departments

On Monday, October 27, the Berkshire Athenaeum hosted a Grand Opening ceremony, marking the official completion of renovations to the Local History and Reference Departments. Senator Benjamin Downing; Representative Christopher Speranzo; Mayor James Ruberto spoke to a crowd that came to celebrate the completion of this important project. Tours of the renovated areas highlighted the compact, movable shelving; modernized computer workstations; new service desks; additional public Internet workstations; digital microformat reader/printers; reallocated space; and a laptop computer lab. As the Mayor noted, This is not your father’s library — or even the library you may have grown up with during your youth in Pittsfield: this is a library designed to take Pittsfield into its future. We agree!
